11/28/2023 0 Comments Abu garcia revo s 30![]() This is why we also chose the Revo SX as the winner of our test of the best baitcaster for beginners. This anti-backlash technology is revolutionary for casting reels, and based on our testing, it makes the Revo SX much easier to master for beginners, compared to traditional baitcasters. The Infini dual braking system was developed by Abu Garcia to combine both magnetic and centrifugal brakes, which can be independently adjusted to avoid backlash almost completely, even without using your thumb to slow down the spool while casting. This reel is undoubtedly one of the most popular low profile baitcasters among dedicated bass anglers, perhaps only rivaled by the Daiwa Tatula series.īut unlike the Tatula series, our testing showed that the Revo SX has lower backlash tendency due to its dual braking system. Now let’s take a closer look at each of these models. The table above compares the most important specs and features of the top 7 Abu Garcia baitcasting reels that we tested (6 low profile models, and one round model).Īs you can see, they cover quite a range of features and strengths. Now that I am very comfortable with the casting reels, I feel like I don't like DC tech as much as when I was a beginner. I bought the SLX 3 months into using casting reels. I always suggest saving the extra to pick up a Curado DC to those who are interested in DC tech. Also only having 4 brake settings is irritating to me. The DC tech is cool, but it's still a cheap reel with DC brakes. And then you feel like you have it set where you want it to be and it's suddenly loose again. ![]() It's like it does nothing until it does too much. ![]() I particularly do not enjoy the spool adjusting knob on the SLX. I prefer my Fuego which I bought at a 3rd of the price of the SLX. I have the SLX and a Fuego as my two casting reels. The Premier is in fact probably one of the top 2 reel at its original price point. I’m used to fishing high end Shimano and Daiwas, so I don’t just say this out of no experience with nice gear at all. I see that a lot of people have chosen the SLX in your poll, but I don’t think those guys know what the Revo Premier is. The quality is there with both reels of course, but the Premier is better supported and therefor the materials used will hold up for a longer time. As someone who dislike Revos in general, I’d definately buy the Premier even for a normal price, because it really is a good compact little reel. It has bearings in pretty much every key area you want bearings in (except maybe the secondary pinion bearing). I assure you it’s a better caster with light lures and medium lures than the SLX. ![]() It has probably the farthest casting centrifugal braking system on the market (IVCB brake). It’s one of the only Revos I really like. This is coming from a guy who’s not a big fan of Revos: Get the Premier, it’s a way better reel.
